The LA Business & Technology Center (LBTC) is part of the E.J. Ourso College of Business at LA State University, Baton Rouge, LA. The LBTC operates technology offices under contract with NASA at the John C. Stennis Space Center, MS and expects to open a second office at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility, New Orleans.
The CPRA announced the Solicitation of New Project Ideas for Development of the 2023 Coastal Master Plan. After this release, I submitted my Tide Pump project as a new idea.
Below is a description of my Tide Pump project, you may want to send it to others. I built a Sediment Capture Tide Pump and showed a video of it to CWPPRA, an act of Louisiana and the federal government to help prevent erosion in the wetlands. You can view the YouTube video by going to The Tide Pump How It Works video page on the right.
The US Army Corps of Engineers told me that if this thing works like I say it does, it will change everything. I proposed that this technology can be used to dredge the Mississippi River without fuel and maintain the required river depth automatically.
A land owner in Houma, LA gave me permission to test my Tide Pump project on their property south of Houma in the wetlands, which has been moved to the Vermilion River south of Abbeville, LA. This test will give me the data that will demonstrate its usefulness. What used to be their land is now open salt water. I proposed to them that a GPS autonomous system using solar energy can be built onto barges to dig trenches and make levies that will enclose their original property line, while allowing for natural drainage. Then the Tide Pump system will be used to pump out the enclosure. This will give them their land back that will be under sea level just like New Orleans. After pumping out the salt water, fresh water from a nearby canal will be allowed to refill the enclosure. After letting the water settle, it will be pumped out again. This will allow a thin layer of top soil to form. Repeating this multiple times will build a layer of top soil to plant grass and trees or provide for agriculture, without salt water intrusion.
With all the efforts to save the wetlands, ocean level rise will eventually over top the landscape. All the world’s fertile deltas will be lost to ocean level rise and our habitable land mass will be reduced, while the world’s population increases. The solution is to capture sediment out of the oceans and build habitable islands, thus preserving our land mass and increasing agricultural land. The displaced sediment will give the arctic water a place to go without raising the oceans. Building elevated barrier islands in segments along the Louisiana coastline with closed gates between the segments will prevent storm surge from entering the wetlands. Then opening the gates when there is no storm surge.
The Tide Pump does not use fuel which makes it cost effective. The automated system built into the barrier islands will use tide, wave, wind, solar, and precipitation to elevate water. The energy produced by the elevated water can be used to compress air into a pipeline that is built into the barrier islands. Anyone can tap into the pipeline to run pneumatic devices and motors. The abandoned pipelines existing in the wetlands can be used to distribute the compressed air to pump out various enclosures, including the Mississippi River.
The wetlands can become the Louisiana Wetlands Energy Center, creating a new industry in Louisiana and the United States to provide energy and the manufacturing of this technology to the world.
A donation in any amount will help advance the project.
A manually operated capture system has been built onto a barge with the help of donations. It was tested and has demonstrated its ability by capturing sediment and releasing it into a 5 gallon bucket. As shown in the video above. It is the first of its kind.
The next stage is to build 2 enclosures surrounded by levies to test and demonstrate how the Tide Pump system can pump out one of the enclosures and return the open water to dry land. The grass and trees will then naturally grow back. You can help provide the funding to build the system by volunteering to make purchases as described above. Go shopping to bring the land back.
Please take the time to make the purchases that will create funding from commerce and not out of your pocket or taxes.
Thanks,
Richard C. Russo
Below is another way you can donate without using your own money. Walmart will give a $10 discount for trying the grocery pickup service. You can donate the discount.
To Supporters,
Here is the link for the Walmart Grocery Promo Code:
https://coupons.businessinsider.com/walmart
It currently has codes for the $10 discount. There are other websites that have $10 codes also. Go online and enter "Walmart Grocery Promo Code"
To use the code, follow the link to Business Insider and select the $10 off code to save on Groceries, it will open to the code, select "copy" then click "Continue to store".
When you enter Walmart, there will be 4 icons in the upper right, click the first one, it will open to the grocery page. You may need to sign in. Select $50 of items into your cart, go to check out, follow the process, day, time, store, card, etc. Just before placing your order, it will show the total. Paste the $10 code into the code box, it will show a new total. Place your order, it will confirm.

Here is another way to get money from commerce. Cellphone companies compete with each other. When one drops their price to earn your business, others do the same to compete. If you are on the same plan after your company drops their price, you will continue to pay the amount of your plan before the price dropped. If you call your company and ask them for a review of your bill or ask for a discount, you may find that they dropped their price and are willing to lower the cost of your plan in order to compete. This puts money in your pocket because you are spending less money on your cellphone plan. Then use the extra money to make purchases that will create the funding to advance my project. It's like getting stuff for free! You can do the same with your auto insurance and internet/TV service.
Thanks for your support.
